TRO DOPC & TRO BUY ZONE

Postby TheRumpledOne » Thu Feb 15, 2007 4:08 pm

FORM-T TRADES REAR THEIR UGLY HEAD

TRO DOPC & TRO BUY ZONE

Since I can't trade on TradeStation, I forgot about the FORM T consolidated data stream chart problem.

My indicators were using OpenD(0) for the daily open and CloseD(1) for the previous close. Most days this is not a problem. But today in my chatroom, my indicators were showing AAPL opened at $84.25 when in fact, the real NASDAQ open for AAPL was $84.44.

Premarket trades are labeled FORM-T. That indicates a premarket/postmarket trade. But because TradeStation uses a consolidated data stream, FORM-T trades are mixed in with the regular trades. Sometimes, at the open, a FORM-T trade may "sliip in" before the first regular trade and the OpenD(0) value is INCORRECT. This cost me a lot of money years ago, when I was running AutoAvery.

Since 8.1, indicators can reference the quote fields DAILYOPEN and PREVIOUS CLOSE and those values are "correct".

The TRO_DOPC indicator replaces _DailyOpenPrevClose.

The TRO_BuyZone indicator replaces _BuyZone.

Both use DAILYOPEN and PREVIOUS CLOSE.

Thanks for the update! You said "My indicators were using OpenD(0)..." Question: Does the effect _GRIDIRON_II_SR15? I love that indicator!

This only applies to stocks.

So if you are not trading stocks, then no effect.

Avery, what do you think about having the Buy Zone lines end as each of the markets close?

On _TRO_BuyZone_Time, my lines keep going.

Right now, the NY market is closed but my lines continue to the right edge of the chart.

I'd think it would need an iEndTime input to set the end time (or a duration variable).
