It'll probably take me two weeks to recover from this, not because the 9.9% I need to recover my losses is so big, but b/c I will be trading a bit more shy & timid to make sure I don't dig a bigger hole for myself.

Seems excessive to have a loss limit that big. Should be
able to accomplish a lot with less than 4% a week limit. The holes tend to be shallower.

    Krane's adaptation of MightyOne's Accumulation

So, I've stated before that
a) I prefer to measure my lots as a fraction of the Max Leverage
b) I REALLY like the idea of building up to Max Leverage and running my trades at that level

During the phenomenal 4 month period I was having earlier this year, this is what I was keeping in mind:
(Of course, I was doing a phenomenal job reading PA; it got to a point were I 'forgot' how to get out of losing, or even trade going against me, b/c I was so used to having my analysis working out correctly.)

Image

And this below, is how my adding-in usually occurred;
my favorite was when/if I added in 1/12 of my max leverage three times, and I got a lot of pips from that. Instead of starting my next phase at ¼ [[ 3/12 ]] , I would convert the 3/12 SPACE to 4/12 [[ 1/3 ]] . In this way, I was sometimes able to be trading at Max Lev by the end of that 2nd phase of entries ... 1/3 + 1/3 + 1/3

Hey MightyOne, I'm gonna have to write those numbers out by hand a few times to seer if/how I can get used to them.
I'm not understanding the reasons you have for reducing lot size as you get closer to your target. Maybe I'm reading it wrong, I'll have to sleep on it and check it out again.

I understand that more risk is more risk, but I'm not too worried about burning through months of work due to hi-lev trading, especially since I have a solid method for cutting my losses --while BEING CONTENT that I gave PA enough of a chance to prove itself!!

One thing that has motivated my Forex studies for a long time now, was seeing how dragon33 was consistently taking his initial entries at 20:1 lev off of daily extremes. I've pushed for that level of Price Action understanding so that I could do the same.
And now, with your accumulation, I can get more attempts to try this, b/c I will ~barely~ be putting my base account money at risk.

Gunning for sextillions and all that

I agree absolutely!
My weekly loss limit is 3.75%
I hit my loss limit and was done trading for the week
Unfortunately, I left a pretty big order open on the charts that I forgot to delete ](*,)

Oh well that's a sucky blunder. #-o.
Ya under 4% should keep things sane.
People have great visions of sextillions but
forget about controling risk, because of
course things can't go bad.

I'm not understanding the reasons you have for reducing lot size as you get closer to your target.

I'll use an extreme example...

Let's say that you are targeting 21.2% & 1.2% remains until you reach your goal.

Should you trade $5/pip for your last $12? Of course not!
You would reduce your size to about $0.40 and coast along to the goal (+30 pips)
(5/.4) = 12.5 times more space & only a fraction of it is required to guarantee victory.

Let's say that you lose 41 pips at $0.40/pip and add $16.40 to the target which is now $28.40 away.
Increase your size to 0.90 and target 31.5 pips & if you lose pips then create space.
Double, close the gap, reach your target.

But getting back to $5/pip, if you lose 41 pips and you have to reduce your size, to create space, pushing your
target further away, you might not have a position that can double down to close the gap because you
are near maximum size.

I am sure that I could explain it better, but it is 2AM :o

Waypoint to waypoint, to goals not through goals.

Week 2; Ending: Oct, 2
-5.5%
Entries: 11

Usually, I have free time and my life back once busy season ends, but unfortunately, too much going on for me to even try and trade during week 3.

Week 3; Ending: Oct, 9
0%
Entries: 0

The last two weeks are ones I wish never to repeat again.
A lot of good analysis on the charts, coupled with brave & disciplined action would go a long way as far as making me feel better.
I barely even had the time/desire to look at my 'study guide' of screenshots, which I use to ingrain my trading habits, analysis, and reactions to chart situations.
So I'll be looking to get back on this horse slow and steady like.

Will probably treat myself to a lobster dinner and a Corona-rita  tonight, just to get my spirits back in the right place. :D :D :D

Thank you for the detailed mathwork, MightyOne.

To Goals Not Through Goals

Definitely one of the finer points that I missed...
