thanks mate - so if i look hard enough there should be rules and I can draw by hand - which is preferable to me in the beginning

Hey doji, long time lurker here, great thread! Hope you dont mind me asking are the colored boxes HTF candle overlays with the wick missing in these pictures? Would i be correct in saying that these zones are drawn when you get an overlay close above or below the last overlay body that closed above/below its previous extreme?
I have read much of the thread but it seems it has evolved over time
Apologies if im way off the mark lol

This might be a better explenation.
To my eyes the zones in these two pictures seem to be drawn from different points. The grey backgroud one is drawn in the way i understand and can spot from the beginning stages of the thread. The newer ones seems different to me.
