You are most likely right.. My demo account is tiny and the brokers minimum lot size on GER30 is 0.10. On forex pairs minimum is 0.01.
I could open a new more realistic demo account.
I would appreciate help on proper trading size.

Another option is to maybe sign up for the free 2 week FTMO account trial (10k), It forces to keep your risk in check to stay in the boundaries etc.
