Sorry for the server being down

Postby michal.kreslik » Mon Aug 13, 2007 1:41 pm

Hello, friends,

I'm sorry for the server being down from Sunday 00:00 to Monday noon CET. A server maintenance was being done at the webhosting company. They hoped for it to be finished during Sunday, but that was not the case.

All in all, we're dealing with computers which is a medium that's sometimes less predictable than weather :)

Have a great day!
Michal

Michal
Thanks for the update. It is good to know. I felt like a fish out of water.

I didn't know about the maintenance neither. I would definitely announce that in advance on the home page. I was out of the city during the whole weekend. So it was a shock when I first saw a blank screen instead of kreslik.com on Monday morning :)

At first, I instantly thought of hackers. A quick call to the webhosting company resolved the issue.

Sometimes it's a good lesson to lose something that we take for granted, even if it's just for a couple of hours.

It was down for a few days michal. You should go back to your webhosting and demand money back for the month for them failing to provide 99.9% uptime. Lol. Anyways glad to see it back up.

Yes, it was "mimo provoz" for several days.

However, hustling your webhost for the credit may not be worth the hassle.

The last visitor came to kreslik.com a couple of minutes before Sun 00:00:00 CET (Sat 18:00 ET) as the log shows, so the server was down for about 1.5 days.

Actually, I was thinking about switching to another webhosting company for another reason earlier: the IP of the current webhosting company is blacklisted on some servers, so some kreslik.com users are complaining about not getting emails from kreslik.com domain. It seems like there were a couple of spammers posting from the current webhosting company's IPs.

I hope Google will start offering webhosting services soon.

Try dotable.com

I have a reseller account there and host many domains. Not one hitch yet, and awesome customer service. I've been at 4 other places in 10 years, and this one is the best by far.

Thanks for a suggestion, Scott, I'll look into it.

I would still rather wait for the Google webhosting if it ever becomes available.
