Oculus Rift
Play the video on that site if not familiar ----^
Basically this is the closest to VR that the world has ever seen, no lag when
you look around, you are immersed (can't see the edges of the screen),
3D, changed FOV and software tricks create an experience like never
before possible.
Most traders have multiple screens like (or more screens):
You can only really look at ONE screen at a time, our eyes are just not able
to focus on multiple screens at the same time. If we want to look at a
different screen, we have to turn our head to where that screen is and than
are eyes focus on that area of the new screen with a different
chart/application on it.
All those screens and hardware will be replaced with a VR Headset like the
Oculus Rift. When you turn your head (kind of like when I was describing
how it's currently done, to turn to look at a different screen), the
SOFTWARE would pan to a "new screen" in VR, with a different chart or
application. So if I look up and left, that's one screen, than look slightly
down, that's a new screen/chart, turn my head more centered, a new
screen/chart/application, look up slightly, but still centered, another
screen...etc. You could easily have an array of 6 screens with just the VR
headset and replace all the physical screens/hardware...
How cool is that?! Maybe I'll email them for a developer kit and tell them
the idea for replacing multiple screens...

Ibex Virtual Desktop
Someone is already working on it!
Not quite what I had envisioned but looks like other people are already thinking about applications besides gaming.
The future is now!

I sent the developer of IBEX Virtual Desktop a message:
"Hi,
I don't have the dev kit but I was following your project.
From the demo video it doesn't look like you have the virtual screens
angled to one central point.
A lot of people use 3+ monitors/screens that are all angled so that a user
sitting in a fixed location can see any of the screens (like attached pic).
What you have so far looks like you can walk around in a virtual world, but
the thing that is most important is how it feels when you are fixed in one
location and viewing say 3 screens at a time. The centered screen directly
in front of you and than one screen to the right of the centered screen, and
one screen just to the left of the centered screen that are angled toward a
single fixed point in space.
There could be an array of X screens (say an array of 6 screens) with each
screen showing a different application running on it.
My interest is not so much for gaming (although that would be cool too),
but for work/computer experience. I think your project has so much
potential to radically change how things are being done.
You can only really look at ONE physical screen at a time, our eyes are just
not able to focus on multiple screens at the same time. If we want to look
at a different screen, we have to turn our head to where that screen is and
than are eyes focus on that area of the new screen with a different
application on it.
Have you considered this with your project?"

I'm excited for the possibility that augmented reality will offer traders....
Google Glass will offer you the ability to be engaged in life and still keep your eyes on the price or even charts...
Like when you driving... I imagine that the windscreen will allow for data to be displayed... I know BMW are currently doing it...
So yeah this is really awesome stuff
