I didn't take a whole lot of time making this.

I was just trying to explain how spreads work and
how they could trade them.

They are perfect for people with jobs because there is no
need for stops and any gap move is likely to equally impact
both your long and short in the same way.

You can trade them using the daily closes of each although I use
hourly data as well...

& best of all DELAYED DATA IS FREE!

People beat themselves up trying to trade outrights when there are better ways like options and spreads (not 'spread betting'...which is stupid)

I've been trading local warrants for the past two months. Placed a call on the USDZAR at 8.10 and got out at 8.50 last week. also took a call on Harmony HMY 2 weeks ago using share installment turbos (i think that's what they are called) slightly less levered and the time decay is not too drastic like in warrants.

I just find trading end of day off my local exchange liquidity is a major problem due to volume sometimes you get filled sometimes you don't.

but one thing is certain investing profit in a call or put strategy is great because it gives you time to be wrong if you are early in your analysis ( like i tend to be ) and you generally wont lose all your investment quickly unless you are to greatly geared and run out of time...

just my limited experience on the topic of options

Could you tell me how do you protect your capital?
Do you keep 20% of your in your brokers account and the rest somewhere else?
Do you invest in any assets?
How do you protect your future?
Money is just nothing... 8)

xXx,

Exactly!

It's all just worthless currency :)

The idea is to transfer it into things that create true wealth...because money is NOT WEALTH.

Money/Currency becomes wealth when you transfer it into something REAL..

You want to keep the least amount of money in your trading account.

Remember MF Global?

The video I posted not too long ago talks about how you don't own anything you buy in a trading account..."They" own it,

It's usually not a problem until there is a problem, and then "They" take it from you.

Just like MF Global, the banks got the money...

at the moment the bulk of my savings is in mutual funds or unit trusts. i follow a diversified approach to investing...
unfortunately low interest rates make it very difficult to extract and safe money market returns so i am largely overweight property as an asset class especially rental properties as part of my UT portfolio.

I personally am shocked about the scandal involving MFG and PFG BEST i wouldn't know what to do. fortunately our financial industry and banks are much more regulated in South Africa and if the same were to happen here, well people would be going to jail... which is not the case in the USA sadly.

its truly a difficult time to be saving...

i hear food and water are the next big problems to face our ever growing population. so I'm probably going to put a lot of my money towards making sure that it never becomes too much of a problem.
