TRADESTATION BLOCKED THE TREND THREAD

Postby TheRumpledOne » Mon May 14, 2007 7:01 pm

TRADESTATION BLOCKED THE TREND THREAD

TradeStation blocked the TREND INDICATOR thread, the most widely viewed thread in the history of TradeStation, today.

Why doesn't TradeStation want their customers to see this thread?

Unbelievable!

I wonder how many TS executives were part of this decision?

What could they possibly be thinking?

"All support, education and training services and materials on the TradeStation Securities Web site are for informational purposes and to help customers learn more about how to use the power of TradeStation software and services. No type of trading or investment advice or strategy is being made, given or in any manner provided by TradeStation Securities or its affiliates. "

Doesn't it seem odd that they delete one of the most informative threads?

Avery,

Sadly, for TradeStation it simply appears to be par for the course.

Edward
Eudaimonia (pron.: you-die-moan-e-a) (Greek: εὐδαιμονία) is a classical Greek word commonly translated as 'happiness'. The less subjective "human flourishing" is often preferred as a translation.

Has anybody made a backup?

Postby peter_77_peter » Mon May 14, 2007 8:55 pm

I´ve just been on the Trend thread this afternoon, I must have been one of the "last users" able to do so, this time reading myself through pages 60-70, learning about "peaks and valleys", thinking about AATP and how to plan trades based on dynamic s&r, about how to measure decreasing volatility as a prelude to breakouts............such a pity they´are blocking and probably deleting such a wealthy thread of free accessible trading knowledge........I just wonder whether anybody has made a full or some partial backups, i.e. printing it to a .pdf or some other searchable portable document form, then we could just try to restore, provide and continue this thread at kreslik.com making the block simply useless, regardless of whatever intention tradestation could have had in doing so............freedom for information!!!

Peter:

Post a question to TradeStation on their forum. Copy/paste what you wrote above. See if they respond. If enough people tell TS how they feel about what happened, maybe TS could find 2 active brain cells on duty and remove the block.

They are probably going through each and every post. just like in Orwell's 1984, and deleting/editing what they don't like. Then the 'revised' copy will be unblocked and HISTORY WILL BE CHANGED FOREVER!!

All the code I wrote is here in the download section of Kreslik.com but the comments are not.

TRO

As I read this set of posts I feel like using a bunch of "*** ***** **** ** *****'s. Tradestation is dumb as they can be, in fact dummer than dumb. I'd give them a piece of my mind, though I don't have much to share right now.

my 2 cents: try searching for it on google and then pulling up the 'cached' version. might all be there..

edit: if the thread starts with tro listing a bunch of indicators and then people replying saying, 'hey, that's really cool'. then here it is:

The link works for the thread's first page - after that it jumps back to www.tradestation.com.

im sure google has indexed all of the pages of the thread. it is just a matter of manipulating your search query. Good luck, have fun.

recovering trend thread through clever use of google cache

Postby peter_77_peter » Tue May 15, 2007 1:47 pm

Hi all,

I`ve just picked up 4x=0`s thought on getting the trend thread from googles cache. I´ve just played 5 minutes and found a search criterion
that could help recovering some of the pages from the thread:

1.) go to google
2.) search for: tradestation Topic_ID=40776 PAGE=1
3.) go for the cache version

for some pages it works, i.e.:

search for:
tradestation Topic_ID=40776 PAGE=20

brings the cache version of page 20

search for:
tradestation Topic_ID=40776 PAGE=30

brings the cache version of page 30

search for:
tradestation Topic_ID=40776 PAGE=3

brings the cache version of page 3

.....

----> it is then possible to save the page using the browser (I use firefox),
the code of the page and all pictures included are getting downloaded.

----> Some pages just don´t seem to be cached, i.e. I did not find page 2
with this method.......

----> But maybe this is a way to restore 80% of the thread and provide it
here at kreslik.

----> anybody how can automate this? find a better search query? knows
more servers where some pages could be found in cache? anybody who
has read all 90 pages lately and can find them in a local cache?

It would be great to have this thread back!
peter
