Question list for Seminar in Belgium with Avery

Postby JohnM » Mon Apr 23, 2007 10:55 am

After speaking with Avery last night about the content on this seminar, he suggested to post some initial thoughts on the seminar content here. Those of you interested in attending can add your questions here also.
Avery will be providing answers where possible in advance of our meeting so that we can optimize the learning curve.

Here are some of the questions I received already:

- Tools of the trade - what is your preferred trading platform?
- Dashboard setup - types in information (price/vol/indicators ...)
- What strategies do you suggest for confidence building beginners?
- Can you explain your favourite strategies for day traders?
- Some traders have day jobs and are not able to baby-sit the PC. What strategies would you suggest for them?
- Do your strategies work apply to both Forex, stocks and commodities?

More questions to follow ....

I'll be there!

It's easy for me - I live there/here! - They have good beer for pirates here - LOL

Seriously, what I'd like to see discussed is something like this:

Market preparation - what market breadth indicators do you use to determine a view on the market (trending, overbought/sold, bullish, bearish).

Stock candidates - I think Avery has posted enough information on his scans across on StockFetcher, but which ones to use based on your view of the market work best in various market conditions?

Platforms - I use Amibroker combined with TC2000 data feed for EOD charting and scanning, and AB scmbined with Interactive Brokers for RT charting.

Trading style - swing, trend, day, etc

Instruments - equities, forex, commodoties. As a relative beginner, I have the impression that the latter two are for the "big boys", who are just waiting to separate the innocent from their money. But I'd love to be persuaded otherwise.

On the one hand I hope that we have a relatively coherent group focused in the same broad direction. OTOH, I look forward to learning about new trading techniques and trading instruments.

NONE. I don't care about the "market". Stocks, currencies and futures WILL ALWAYS GO UP/DOWN no matter what the market is doing.

For daytrading, use the COWS.

Once again, for daytrading TradeStation. For currency trading, EFX Group.

Day trading if you can, otherwise short term swing.

It takes $25,000 MINIMUM to daytrade stocks. You can get in the game for $500 if you trade currencies. It's NOT what you trade, it's HOW you trade it!
