White spot on my tonsils?

I have a white spot at the bottom of my tonsils. I have been researching tonsil stones and I don't like the ways doctors remove them, is there anything else it could be?
Also, I am going to the dentist in 2 days, would my dentist remove the stone there and then if it is a tonsil stone?

It is actually quite a common problem that I wasn't aware about until I actually did my homework and found it out. I was definitely relieved, but still not happy with knowing I had these little stones stuck in my throat. Once in a while I would cough one up, but then another one would form right behind it.
