MT4 - Spread on Chart window

Postby retireme » Sun Aug 09, 2009 7:04 am

Would someone know why this happens?

Spread is 3, bid / ask spread on chart is 2.

It doesn't happen all the time and it isn't confined to market close sessions. I can find no pattern to its emergence and disappearance.

How do you know, that "spread" is 3?

How long "your" issue is lasting: for seconds or minutes?

Who is your broker?
Suppose to ask them about this matter first.

With MBT for example - they have 2 different feeds
(if they're physically different at all):
one - for MBT navigator,
another - for MT4 (demo).

And they also have real-time screen with spreads
for major pairs on their web-site.

There is a long-time debate about - how accurate
and close to each other (or exactly trhe same) all three are.

I haven't done exact tests and haven't seen your exact issue yet
(which doesn't mean - it's not happenning with MBT),
so I'm assuming these all 3 are consistent with each others.
So, if spread is 3 on MBT navigator, it should be 3 on MT4 as well.
But, speed of spread change and how quickly it is updated on
each of 3 of their visual spread's representation - is a subject
to some investigation: it maybe up to 1-2 seconds difference.

However, their MT4 data feed is not 100-% reliable -
sometimes there are un-explained gaps and peaks,
sometimes it is down - and this is known (at least - for me) thing.
Answer on my questions about this - from MBT help-desk
are always the same: "we are doing testing and technical maintenance of our servers, so don't mind".
I don't mind, and their coming real MT4 platform will be a big concern for me, so I won't trade through it for real money anyway.
