I think an alternative could be the up/down candle that Alias is playing with as well as an area which encompasses the Z-Line.

What is that? a 'rat-trade', 'fat-cat', 'flip-flop', something like that?

an m15 Up/Down, entry on the m5. Use the Jedi mind trick to merge the m5 candles together to see the m15 up/down.

I am impressed with the up/ down candles idea. It wraps a few patterns all in one. Zlines, color change, inside, outside, engulfing, sometimes they are railroad tracks, 2candle pin bars. Im sure there are other names.

Now i am only looking at updown and working on how to play them most effectively.
They can be played with 20 sma, structure, higher timeframes, and other biases

A "rat trade" is a concept of TRO where a two candle setup red/green or green/red reverses price at the high or the low of the day. Somehow the "Dave clan" is using this word now for a two candle reversal setup.

I am also playing with it and had some nice entries. Its great that your SL becomes super tight. But so far I also had a couple of trades that my trade made a move down, reversed and took me out. I find the reversals that occur lets say 30min later, really hard to catch.

This is how DT determines his Up/Down candle.

This is how DT determines his Up/Down candle. Note the first candle he is using the wick.I never read up on Tro's rat so not sure if it is the same

First trade, Deadhorse, inside bar.
Unfortunately I decided to take partials with the majority of my position after 7 pips and just leave a small portion open.
Usually I do I take partials with just a small part and let the bigger part run.
Closed when price came back down to the daily adr (red line)

Still...I'm happy.

"Do I have to sell?" is a stronger mindset than "should I sell?"

With not even a single close lower, there was no technical reason to sell anything. . .

personally, I think it would have been better to start with one unit, add a unit when it is clear that the first trade holding its own, and then look for a technical reason to exit.

The profit will take care of itself if you consistently apply your ideas and follow well-defined exit strategy.
