I spent hundreds of dollars having people program indicators for MT5 but I don't think that I am going to go through with a Metatrader account; I just really hate Metatrader

My second choice was between RJO and Optimus; RJO ghosts me whereas Optimus always responds to every email, so I think I'll start with Optimus.

Are you talking Optimus that has the Ironbeam platform?

MT5 is so bare-bones that your are forced to visit the marketplace and hire freelancers; I think that's their business model

I think it's more worthwhile to spend time learning C#, it keeps getting better over time.

PS: I have not heard of 'zorro-project', looks interesting though.

It depends on what you end up doing but c,c++ will be the fastest for the heavy stuff. Using their framework a lot of the core workings(the engine) have already been done for you, just tap into it and use it by looks.
Yeah C# is pretty neat and more forgiving, but you will need to build your engine as well as your data models.
