few weeks ago i was listening to a great conversation between Jordan Peterson and Jocko Willink
Peterson is a psychologist
and Willink is a veteran and best selling author now
they were talking about the attitude towards stressful/ dangerous situations
and an overall idea of "being agressive" in life
Peterson in his book said that you want to accept the demands of life ---- face them voluntarily
Willink said something about the difference between offensive and defensive operations in the army
to sum this up its about taking resposibility and taking the power
if you are out there to "get" you have the power
when you are avoiding stuff and hiding from things you are powerless
it resonates so much with my experience of making trading my full time job
it was FASCINATING
damn it
ill just find it!
here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q_Do_6DKDLYthis is SUCH A BIG thing in trading in my opinion
ever since i got decent at this im out here trying to get people ---- im not trying to survive
the great es/pip was always saying something along the lines: "when i walk into the bar, people know i just walked in"
he was a tough guy
with an ultra offensive attitude towards life (at least i always viewed him that way)
he was talking a lot about it
i strongly believe that it has a lot to do with his outstanding results in trading
it also ties up with the Gunslinger Syndrome that Lem was explaining few pages back
guys become more and more afraid
they are not trading voluntarily anymore
they are trading because someone makes them (whatever it is ---- life/ menager/ anything)
and sooner or later they get cought
