The idea is simple, the applications can either be simple or nuanced.

Here we interpret the congestion with higher closes as a slowing:
In the ideas thread, the idea is that of a 3-bar pattern where the bodies either expand or contract

Here is a simple 2 SMA line chart with the 'jaggedness' of the 1 SMA ironed out:
you can find the same solutions (long/short at a line after an open) with less of a headache.

You only require detail when your lines are a fraction of the M30 ATR.

Which chart gave you the best entries at cups or pointy places?
On which chart would you have stayed in the move the longest?

Make your smallest chart simple and use whatever you want for your larger charts as you are more likely to confuse yourself when staring at small charts.

As much as it would have made sense to close the trade after a tall candle (close above 50)
the current exit strategy is to wait for price to attempt +1 before taking profit above +0.50.

We'll see what happens...
