Hi,
I've been a Wealth-lab user for sometime now, it is a great software but has its limitations. I am looking to move all my strategy testing to the next step and the platforms that seems to fit the bill are:
Openquant and RightEdge.
I'd like to know your opinions and experiences with those packages. Which one would you recommend? I am looking to do strategy design, backtest, portfolio management, connect to my broker (oanda) for data and execution.
I will really appreciate your experiences and help.
Regards,
Javier.
What software?

Javier,
If you are looking for a software that will improve your ability to autotrade or improve the quality of your backtesting I would recommend NeoTicker. Openquant might also be another good choice (I haven't heard of RightEdge).
If you are serious about testing your trades Metatrader would not be my first choice. I use them for discretionary trading, however, the data is free (ie riddled with errors) and their platform has serious backtesting problems (ie simulating data - not the same as the real thing).
If you are interested in a cheaper (though not free) solution I would check out NinjaTrader. It's not quite as powerful as NeoTicker or OpenQuant but the platform itself is free providing that you're only testing your trade ideas (live trading costs about $60/mo). Of course for all of these programs you will need to purchase/obtain data which is an additional cost/work.
Good luck.
Edward

Eudaimonia (pron.: you-die-moan-e-a) (Greek: εὐδαιμονία) is a classical Greek word commonly translated as 'happiness'. The less subjective "human flourishing" is often preferred as a translation.
