Ok lets see if Im some what close. 1st set of lines we have blue showing bullish momo, then red showing bearish momo with a 2 sema behind it. But it did not close under bullish momo till yellow line. 2nd set of lines is the same but reverse order of 1. Then we have current price with the 3rd set.

Trades 1 and 2 are about the same, with 1 being a loss and 2 a winner. Both are in a down bar 50 zone. Trade 1 there is down momo that closes beyond previous bars extreme, below the upward momo and has a sema on it. Cant get more perfect. But its a loser. Number 2 has up momo closing beyond previous bars extreme. Next bar wicks the 50 zone and gets rejected. Should be up right. Nope wrong again. 3 and 4 same setup, lots of red bars then some up momo, except 3 blows through and down while 4 just whips back and forth.

This is whats killing me

HI Mr. Hyde,
as everyone knows hind sight trading is way too easy. So.

Trade 1: I assume you have a specific stop set, That is why you took a loss.
Trade 2: looks to me like you changed your bias to long because of the first loss. Even if you encompass the whole move up for your 1st trade loss for upwards momentum your second trade still screams SELL.

Most of our troubles in trading is that we are hunting not trading.
Saturday Sunday I can come up with really good trading plans for the week, but Sunday afternoon the dang thing starts moving and I just gotta kill it.

Bias changing momentum has to be big and quick. The type that makes you cuss like V8?

DOJI it is so cool to see you teaching, having been here long enough to watch your journey unfold.
Thanks

Couple points.
Im starting from scratch here to get the PA foundation right. I haven't given all the pieces yet. One of them is that I only trade off of or away from 2 and 3 sema's. 1's dont give me the range I like on a 15 min chart. Please remember, I have a scalper mentality and my session goal is 20-40 pips. 15 min chart is my favorite.

Ok so I purposely posted those trades knowing we were in a downtrend on the HTF (aiming for 115). But I wanted to see peoples responses and how they would justify it.

Of course phrases like "trade with momo" , "into momo", "HTF says XXX", "sema's were all 3's across multiple timeframes" was what I expected. Its what I would have said to so Im not trying to be a dick. But I learn info by playing devils advocate. The best way to know yourself and your plan is to know your enemy.

Think about lawyers. If a defense lawyer knows what the State is going to present as evidence and as a reason for said crime, all they have to do is counter it and put just a "reasonable doubt" in your mind. Its actually very easy.

Now Im still short due to price has not crossed or closed past 116.50 (weekly mz) or made a larger correction that didn't return to low/high on the 4hr chart, plus a pitchfork on the daily. But I need intra daily reasons.

And yes I will accept the answer of "s**t just happens", because I know I wont win every trade (no matter how much I try to be like dragon and his 127 wins in a row).

You marked the bearish Momentum, if you had marked the 15 min bullish mo that gives the zone.
the up candle right after the down mo candle would have been entry. By entering in the zone your sl is much smaller and gains will be larger.

Price can only leave a zone one way, it takes too much force and orderflow to hold price at a level when forming the deception wicks.

Nice chart.

This is the purpose of these exercises! you nailed it..... the more you draw these zones and "look" the closer you will come to being a PA master!
Start with one time frame. then 2, then 3. Though I dont trade more than 2 very often, I know there are traders that prefer 3.

Once you get this, refer to a few post back about entering long when price is going down and short when price is going up. Look at the zones and see the success rate upon reversals.

i use semas. regular settings and a multiple of 4 of the original settings. 2-3 semas give the range I need for my trading goals. It doesnt have to be semas.
If using two time frames, look for entries on the higher time frame non mo candle using lower time frame analysis.

Buy using the Momentum zone, you eliminate almost all the chop. Thats where patience come in and you will be rewarded.

Two time frame trades...(master one time frame 1st),

this is the zone on the 15 min time frame today on gbp/usd.

I post this to show that I would have gone taken a short if the candle under the pink arrow would have closed in the zone. Instead it closed above the zone and with momentum. See how the momentum of the bullish candle broke the top of the zone which was the bearish 15 min momentum line?

Hence the long.... then its a matter of holding as long as there is no bearish momentum that breaks the bottom of the zone with momentum.

this worked out on 1st trigger for long. My point is had the one 5 min candle closed in the zone instead of above it with momentum I would have gone short no questions asked. 3 candles later another bullish momentum that dominates above the zone...then I would instantly reverse.

The reversals account for over 20 percent of my success rate.
I will post an actual fail and reversal when I actually get one.
