Screener for swing option trading using Stock Fetcher

Postby Handy » Wed Jul 25, 2007 9:45 am

Dear Avery (TRO),

I'm very impressed with your forum in Stock Fetcher. I think you're one of the best stock filter programming.

Nowadays, I'm trading option with very limited resources due to limited budget. So, I always looking for free screener which fit with my trading style.

I used to day trade using options with volatile index (NASDAQ 100) or volatile stock (GOOG, RIMM, BIDU, APPL, ICE,...), but so far due to bad entry and exit criteria, no good result until today. (I've started live trading 5 months ago).

I also cannot watched the monitor everytime, so I only day trade from 9.30 - 12.00 and sometimes 14.00 - 16.00 EST.

I need your help to provide me some filter using Stock Fetcher to find candidate for option swing trading with holding period of option around 2 - 3 days only, in order to enhance the income.

Because I'm using ITM options for day trading, so I need high priced stock ($ 100 or above) with daily volatile movement, to get more profit for every option contract.

Appreciate if you could assist me entry and exit criteria for such kind of trading style (day trade or swing trade) - using technical or momentum indicator.

Your kindly assistance is highly appreciated.

Go to the GAP FILL STATISTICS thread, here and on SF, and pick stocks from that list.
IT'S NOT WHAT YOU TRADE, IT'S HOW YOU TRADE IT!

Please do NOT PM me with trading or coding questions, post them in a thread.

Dear TRO,

Thank you for your response.

Herewith I find the filter :

Fetcher[
/* gap fill statistics buy close, sell open*/

set{Xgapped, open - close 1 day ago}
set{Xgapup, count(Xgapped > 0, 1)}
set{Xgapdn, count(Xgapped < 0, 1)}

set{absgap, abs(Xgapped)}

set{gappedup100, count(Xgapup > 0, 100)}
set{gappeddn100, count(Xgapdn > 0, 100)}

set{cl1lo, close 1 day ago - low}
set{hicl1, high - close 1 day ago }

set{fillup, count(cl1lo > 0, 1)}
set{filldn, count(hicl1 > 0, 1)}

set{gapupfilled, Xgapup * fillup }
set{gapdnfilled, Xgapdn * filldn }

set{gapup100f, count(gapupfilled > 0, 100)}
set{gapdn100f, count(gapdnfilled > 0, 100)}

set{gapfilled, gapup100f + gapdn100f}

/* DRAW PLOTS */

DRAW XGAPPED ON PLOT XGAPPED

/* DISPLAY COLUMNS */

and add column gappedup100
and add column gappeddn100
and add column gapfilled
and add column gapup100f
and add column gapdn100f

and add column cma(absgap, 100)
and add column absgap 100 day high
and add column absgap 100 day low

/* SELECTION CRITERIA */

CLOSE ABOVE 1
average volume(30) above 300000

gappedup100 above 66

/* SORT CRITERIA */

SORT COLUMN 5 DESCENDING
]

Please confirm if it is your mentioned filter, but it should add optionable stock and the open interest is higher than 1000 to get the liquidity.

Please advice, thank you.

handy, are you find yourself good with this screener ? I'm also looking some information for swing trading ,escpecially for options, so i can simply only buy call or put
Does anyone here know anything about swing options trading ?
I jump to this topic, seems that no one in this forum has interest in options..
TRO, is there any info you can share about options ?

thank you
Sam
