TV's and Trading

Postby PebbleTrader » Sat Oct 20, 2012 5:56 pm

Anyone up to speed on the newer model TV's and their use with computers / trading?

I haven't owned a TV in years but it looks like they are getting more flexible and integrated with computers.

I was wondering if they could be used as a computer monitor almost and put charts up on it?

I do it everyday

I'm using a cheap laptop and I use a TV screen to expand my view

What are your concerns?

Ideally I want to get a powerful desktop and hook a couple 60" monitors up to it

At the moment I'm just using 1 30" or something like that. HD screen, I just hook it up with a regular monitor cable. It works flawlessly

You may need a program like ultramon in order to dualscreen a little better

Wait... you live in America and you don't own a TV?

I mean I watch no TV whatsoever but I'm still flabbergasted

There is very little on TV that is worth watching. So I haven't owned a TV or cable subscription for many years now.

It just fills your head up with crap and consumes your time that can be put to better use.

The news is negative and biased toward what they want you to know. You can also learn all about who got murdered, raped or killed in your city :)

Also, a lot of it is all very negative. Instead I watch, read, and listen to uplifting and positive ideas and information.

The only TV show I watch is "Shark Tank" and I just use Hulu on my computer for that.

I trade and then I spend my free time doing adventures. A TV would take away from adventure time.

I use 3 screens right now.

One / two is for charts which is also where my software I wrote that helps me manage everything goes, then the third is the trading platform.

What I was thinking about was having a larger one for charts, like using a TV. I'm not sure how well all that would play together ?

ES/PIP that looks pretty badass :)

That would take up most of the wall!

i am thinking more along the lines of two of those raised and tilted at an angle.

A customized recliner with a suspended keyboard and mouse station tilted to your liking.

Fairly sure that would be the best trading station possible.

I also watch shark tank, love that show.

Two may be excessive. So either one or two of them.

lol

Yeah two of those may be excessive :)

The trading platform fits nicely on a standard computer screen as does the software for managing everything.

The larger screen for just charts would be helpful. I could space things out a little better and really the main thing is keeping track of more than one pair. I have some visualizations that shows me where the pairs are at but not charts.

I want to stress that the larger screen is not to overwhelm myself with too many charts :)

I think with the larger screen you could lay things out nicer.
