Interactive Brokers - anyone using; API for Excel coded?

Postby robby40 » Mon Mar 26, 2007 1:12 pm

Interactive Brokers has an API interface, about which their website states:

'Program traders may build their own add-on applications in Excel, C++, Java, and Visual Basic with our proprietary Application Program Interface (API), which requires TWS to be running in the background. We encourage API users to test API components with the TWS Demo System before actually implementing any new API systems.'

I would like to be able to have some technical analysis code - say something like a moving average - run in MS Excel and execute orders automatically the way TraseStation does (I presently use TS). However, some of the nuances of coding, such as limiting entry to one occurrence per day, are not clearly defined. The IB website does not seem to have code available other than from a demo.

Any insights into, thoughts on IB and the API interface for Excel are appreciated.

An alternative might be to use ESignal to interface with IB but that means learning ESignal syntax which I prefer not to do.
