List of markets

Postby fretka » Thu May 25, 2006 1:59 pm

Hello all

As far as I know, Tradestation is able to trade electronic markets only. But in their data packages are data for example for symbol DJ, which is not electronic. Futures ZS, ZL, ZM are all electronic, but not listed in TS data packages.

Is there complete list of markets I can trade with Tradestation platform ?

Thank you Michal for your reply.

Citation from TS web: "Base platform fee includes access to award-winning TradeStation® and OptionStation® platforms (fully-integrated), and up-to-20-year intra-day historical database."

My plan was to begin with CBOT free data package and to choose markets and corresponding data packages later after backtesting on historical data, that I thought I would have obtain with Tradestation for free. Isn't this vision correct ?

Will I obtain historical data for all the markets or only for data package that I choose and pay ?

fretka,

historical data is available only for the symbols and markets you are subscribed to.

Michael, today I asked TS and they replied that one will receive historical data for markets he is not subscribed to.

Good news for me and every begining trader :!:

fretka,

I would like to put things into perspective here. If you subscribe to a particular data feed, Tradestation Securities maintains that, quote "You will receive delayed daily data for most exchanges not chosen".

The key words here are
- "for most" (i.e. no symbols guaranteed)
- daily (i.e. no intraday, i.e. useless for me)

Of course, if you are trading off of daily bars, then this may by sufficient for you. But I trade only intraday, so the daily bars are of no use for me whatsoever in this respect. And you won't get intraday bars for the data feeds you are not subscribed to.

Anyway I strongly advice you to consult some TS representative to gain a precise knowledge of what will and what won't be included in your package prior to starting the subscription so that you won't be disappointed afterwards.

Michal

Thank you Michal for your answers. I know this link very well. I think that "delayed daily data for most markets" will be sufficient for me in my "early beginnings" :) I plan to subscribe to additional data packages (I currently do'nt know which ones) few months later.
