FX Trek Intellescript custom indicators

Postby 4x=0 » Sat May 26, 2007 3:04 am

I have been trying to figure out how to plot a horizontal line at a specific bar time, but I am not getting far with this programming.

If you are a programmer and know intellescript or would like to help create this simple indicator, I would appreciate it very much.

Here are two links that may give you an idea of how the language works.

http://forex-automatic-trading-systems. ... script.htm

http://iwizard.fxtrek.com/Manual/chartVBar.asp

The indicator needs only plot a horizontal line at the 16:00 bar for starters.

Thanks for any help.

I am having very hard time motivating myself to learn a programming language just for a few horizontal lines -- but the rewards are potentially too great to give this up.

For those interested in coding, the language is a lot like C, so it should be not so hard? Any advice is appreciated as I continue my searching.

Dear FX Chart Client,

Thank you for your email. In general we only work on scripting with clients once they have attempted the script and send us their syntax, we simply do not have enough man power to draft code for clients. The Desktop IntelliScript is a programming feature that allows users to draft and create their own Customized Alerts and Indicators. The IntelliScript is designed for the advanced chartist, with some programming experience. The IntelliScript is close to the C or Pascal language. It is a bit more simplified than a full programming language. The functions and syntax used in the IntelliScript are really a script language.

Though we currently cannot offer training outside the written documentation available from within the software, we recommend reviewing the manual carefully and then try out each example by typing them into the IntelliScript editor. Try to compile and run your script. The compiler will identify any errors in the script at the bottom left hand corner of the window.

For clients that do not have any programming experience, we recommend referring to a basic tutorial on C, paying attention to the following sections within the tutorial:

1. Variable declaration, including different types of variables, like Boolean, string, int, float, etc.
2. Variable value assignment
3. IF statements and how to define a condition (condition would return true or false)
4. WHILE statements
5. What is a function, what are parameters passed in a function, and the return value of a function. Or functions that do not return any value.

Another important aspect is to understand how the chart works. The bar index is counted from right to left. The bar currently drawn is represented by zero, the bar to the left of this is represented by 1 and so on. Each bar has high, low, open, close. This information is displayed by invoking the Display Data Window by left mouse clicking on the bar. Each indicator, or math function will generate a certain value on each bar.

These concepts are covered in the manual, and we strongly recommend users understand these in order to correctly program and use the IntelliScript features.

Overall, we only provide very few programming syntax in the IntelliScript. The functions used are common in most programming languages. You can find the above mentioned 5 points on programming in almost any language such as VB and Java. Though we do recommend reviewing the C programming language as we believe it is the closest.

We suggest you have a try at the IntelliScript (Customized Alert). To get you started, you can check out the "DESKTOP: INTELLISCRIPT" section from the manual (launched by selecting "Help"). Here is a direct link to the manual:

http://www.fxtrek.com/manual/chartmanual.asp

You can also go directly to the IntelliScript feature to review the Syntax Help tab and Syntax Reference, accessed from inside the IntelliScript window, these sources are the most up to date for listing how functions work and examples of syntaxes.

Please feel free to email us with questions, along with your syntax you are a trying, we may try to help you, though the IntelliScript is designed for the advanced chartist, with programming experience.

We hope this information has been helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions.

Best Regards,

This should be called:

KRESLIK.COM - Reclusive Programmer Community

I have a very narrow focus and that is on trading and learning to trade. What this means is that learning a programming language is a dangerous and perilous detour that must really be avoided. The "indicator" is so simple. It just lines, 6 lines per day. I just need a few lines placed automatically on my chart so I may more efficiently continue my trading. Such a simple thing I need done, yet practically impossible considering I am possibly the only kreslik.com member using intellicharts.

I like my charts, they have an efx datafeed and an efx DISCOUNT.

One alternative is TradeStation.

HyperServer allows to use TradeStation 2000i with datafeeds that are not supported originally.
HyperServer support also TradeStation/SuperCharts 4.0, MetaStock Professional 6.52/7.0/8.0/9.0 or Advanced GET Realtime and allow to use OnDemand technology for MetaStock 7.0/8.0/9.0 or Advanced GET.

Apparently it is possible to use an efx datafeed (MBTrading was on the list) with TradeStation2000i ? What is this 2000i version of TS, and how much? Anybody know that?

Hi 4x=0

i also try to follow BUYZONE trading strategy. i use alpari MT4 free demo account as a charting software, it looks like to be near the quotes of efx.
i suppose it is quite simple to make such indicator for MT4, even with alarm sound, but i am too lasy. it is easier for me to plot 3 lines at the beginning of the session :D
if i write this indicator for mt4 i will share.
by the way what about your BUYZONE experiment? no posts from you this week...

Daniil,

Thank you for your interest in programming FX Trek intellichart custom indicators. You are also trading now the BUYZONE, this is encouraging. I have heard of this MT4 charts before, but it is very important to me that the price on my charts be in sync with the price with my broker transactions; this will be successful chance of buyzone success with such few pips and quick movement with high leverage. With efx you are getting 50% free of this charting package FX Trek intellicharts. For me you will then code this simple indicator? Please post if this is a possibility, attach the indicator please. The buyzone is easy. Making lots of chart images for you is not. Carefully plotting 180 horizontal lines per week is also not. But the BZE continues on skype. We are making pips every day with BZ.

i am demo trading now so i do not want to invest money to charting software. do you try to use more than one instrument per time? if so - i understand that u need the efx datafeed. if you use only one instrument - it is easy to trade the BUYZONE using EFX Navigator only :D without any charts. but personally for me mt4 charts help of course.

do you use limit or stop+limit orders?
did you try to trade JPY pairs when tokyo opens?

i looked at your trades and i suppose you are in the trade too early - when the price only touches the zone. i found that the probability of lucky deal increases if you trade IN THE ZONE - between .0003 and .0004 - when the price reaches for example .00032-.00035 but not touches .0003 level

Dan,

I know you are trying to help, but you really must understand that I am now needing FX Trek intellicharts custom indicators for plotting 180 BZ lines per week. Thanks for playing.

intelliscript looks like BASIC not C/CPP
pls try:

Global begin_time = 1600
Global straddle =3

//code begins
IF GetBarTime(0) = begin_time

HLine line_open = Close[1]
line_open.Color = YELLOW
HLine line_buy = Close[1]+Point(straddle)
line_buy.Color = GREEN
HLine line_sell = Close[1]-Point(straddle)
line_sell.Color = RED

ENDIF
//code ends

sorry can not debug by myself
maybe you must replace
>>IF GetBarTime(0) = begin_time
with
>>IF GetBarTime(0) >= begin_time

pls report about errors
