How do you stay focused while trading?

Hi Guys

Trading shows me how hard it is to control myself. I get distracted so easily and i miss my entry. What`s worse the price moves in profit like a rocket and my pips are gone! Damn, it`s so frustrating that i need 1h at least to calm down. How do you guys deal with this kind of situation?

"How bad do you REALLY want it?" If the answer is "As much as i wanna breath" then you shouldnt have much trouble focusing (be straight with yourself) :D

I used to also be frustrated in the exact same way you discribe... changing my focus from making pips to gathering space worked wonders in this catagory for me.

Goodluck on your journey The_Pin.

This is just advice.. as the hodgetwins would say (love these guys lol)
Do whatever the FUUUUUUCK you wanna do :D

just use a pending order - nice to wake up to something as well

this way you focus can be on marking up your chart, checking everything a few times to be sure - then just.. set a pending - on to the next chart

the market doesn't care if your sitting by your pc or not.

Thank You for your advice Braathen. Maybe it`s sth with my attitude wrong. Hmm but it`s 8h /day watching charts. Can you just stay focused observing the charts for so long? I wonder how does your trading day lookslike :)

@Captain Pugwash

Yes I use limit orders only. Still the same question. Can you just stay focused observing the charts for so long? And what do you find distracting while trading?

You have been around a while so I won't speak to you as a "newbie ".

If your goal is to trade for a living , then do what the Pro's do ..

ie.. get your account to a point where you can live on a few pips/points

a day and then stop trading for the day .

There is no reason to stare at charts for that long .

Personally , if I had to watch a chart for more than 1 hr , I would go

" Bonkers " .

Of course you also must have a method that will maintain 70%-80%

winners .

Good Luck

Exactly. I found that surfing the internet or playing video games just destroy my trading day. Reading a book is quite good. Tomorrow i will try 15min alerts. I just wonder what you do while waiting on a trade?

Well, my trading day starts @ NY open .

I attempt to capture 2 es points and that finishes the day .

It is usually over in less than an hour , so there isn't much waiting

anymore .

But the whole key for me has been to grow the account to a point

where I only need a few ticks /pips to survive on .

It takes time , it took 9 yrs for my account to go from 1k to 100k .

But it was worth waiting for .Slow steady growth will get you there .

You are young and have the time , trading is a marathon ..not a sprint .

Good luck .....
