Semafor Indicator

Hi All, Hi TRO,

I´m very happy with the Systems of TRO - Thanx for sharing this... with the most success at the moment, I´m trading the DRAIN THE BANKS method/alert = true in the semafor indicator! That makes it possible to Do other things instead watching hours and hours I´d like to have an alert only on the 3rd Trigger, because I usually enter a Trade only on the Semafor 3. Is it possible to change the Semafor Indicator - that it give´s only an Alert on the 3rd Trigger?

Thank You very much!

If youre not watching 1 and 2 semas then set their periods to 0, turning them off. then they wont alert either.

Welcome to Kreslik !!!

Are you using a demo or micro account in your trading right now?

It sounds like you have been under ground for a while. I suggest you set up the Semafors, also my favorite indi, on an M1 chart, with 1, 2 & 3Semafors on defaults. Watch how these are dynamic indicators. Any of them will move as conditions change. I've asked several programmers to make a small change in the code so that once a 1, 2 or 3Sema draws on a chart, it stays. No takers yet, though I think this would be a great help in understanding how the semafors work, and help find / see patterns when they are likely to stay put.

Best to you,

Patch, the initial locations of the semas can appear/disappear on a tick by tick basis (on/off/on/off) depending on where price is exactly. Im not a good enough programmer to explain why.
I discovered this coding an ea which entered at the moment a new sema appeared and found that an entry could be triggered but no new sema stayed on the chart.

Great post. This is the point. So a Sema appears, and disappears, or changes from a 1 to a 2, 2 to a 3, or whatever. If they disappear off the chart, how is a trader to know where they appeared. If I can't see them after the disappearing fact, without making a screen shot, how am I to even know one was even there? This is the exact point: trace the movement of the posting of the semafors will give the trails of where they have been. So why have them disappear in the first place? This will be a great learning tool as to the characteristics of this wonderful indi. Without its full understanding, I don't think it is wise to use it in a meaningful way. Know your indicators. You have to know your indicators. Leave the Semafors on the chart as drawn, especially in the learning stage.

My High regard for your work and insights,

PS In hours and hours of watching charts, I am yet to see a sema appear and disappear in a matter of seconds or pips. I tend to watch M1 charts in my study of Semafors and other indis.

patch,

have you watched a tick chart? when you do you will often see a small move and back again in very quick time, too fast to see the small move by eye. This is the timing when a sema can appear/disapear when price bounces off the level where the sema is due to appear. the sema stays when price actually 'pushes' the sema dot past its appearance point. If you are trading after the sema settles theres no issue with this repainting effect.
it does however make it a right pain to log when it first appears.... or at least it does to bad coders like me :)

@ patch:

thanx for the warm welcome... I was under ground while reading on this Forum every Day. Reading the Posts from/about TRO makes me feel safer in my decision to enter a trade and I learned a LOT. I´m sitting on the computer the whole day, but especially for making music. If the alert is ringing, i change to metatrader and watch the charts, enter the trade most in the right moment, set my sl at 1,5% risk (max. 2 trades at one time) with a small tp and continue making music.
This worked very well for 3 months on demo and now since some weeks i´m succesful on live mini account ...

Thanx a LOT!
