I'm opening this thread to continue discussion on the Indicator referred to at...

http://www.forexfactory.com/showthread.php?t=161044

I will leave that Thread OPEN as I think it could be very usefull in the future as this Indicator continues to be developed.

This Thread is for the purposes of {as the Forum suggests} Discussion on observations as to how to utilize it. {It's not worth much if it doesn't help add to my cargo.}

In an effort to keep the Thread organized, I have a special request;

Please use the Title option on all of Your Posts.

Why? Searchability.

I would like to offer a few suggestions for the Title bar.
1) Channel. this would indicate your post has a Point or Question regardin "The Channel"

2) Indi?. Your post has a Point or Question regardin "The Indicator"

3) New. Your post has a New variation of the Indicator.

4) Chart. Your post has a Chart attached.

5) General. None of the above.

And anything else you think may help keep the thread organized.

I have a{'n optimistic} feeling this thread could grow quite large, perhaps not but with your cooperation, this will help keep it organizied & interesting in the event that it does.

Thanks to ALL over at the Programming Thread.

Not under the auspice of MoneyforNothing or ANY OTHER sudonym you romp under.

Can't prove it {yet} but I know a 4 leafed clover when I see one.

ORIGINAL POST

BEMAC is sore because I created some indicators based on one of his formulas and one of them was a DONATIONAL version.

If you post something in the PUBLIC DOMAIN then the public gets to use it. You can NOT steal something that is offered for FREE!!

I gave BEMAC due credit for his idea. The indicator had his name in it.

Rodney King asking, "People, I just want to say, you know, can we all get along?"

I know why Bemac is upset

He freely gave out an indicator and you are charging for it.

I cannot call it stealing, but it is unethical.

We get out of life what we put into it. Trouble is going to be your friend if you continue this kind of thing.

You received freely, give freely.

NO.

Bemac posted a formula.

I coded the formula into 3 different indicators.

Two of them were posted for FREE. The other is part of the DONATIONAL indicators.

Nothing is unethical. If I were to use your logic then any work that builds upon existing work would have to be given away. Technically, my donational indicators are FREE because I send them as a THANK YOU to people who have shown appreciation by making a donation.

At the present time, there are over 150 indicators in the donation zip file. If someone makes a $50 donation, that's about $0.33 per indicator. I add indicators just about every week so the cost per indicator goes down.

Finally, no one is forced to make a donation.

I am corrected - the arrangement is donational - IF - you wish to donate. One *could* download without cost.

I think it would have been better, indeed polite, to have asked to use the work. It is the product of his hard work. This is would irritate about anyone - even when posting code snippets to a public forum. What would have possibly lost in asking? In fact, can you quantify a loss if he had said 'no'? Not one bit I am sure. In fact, a great way to build an online community is through track backs and link posting. Instead, you've taken a rather inflammatory route and degraded this fine site in the process.

It would be superior to work with such a developer/trader. I'd hate to lose a resource like Bemac (or anyone else) because of what can be construed as casual disrespect.

In fact, do I not notice you yourself ask people not to take your work and post them elsewhere? Why is that? Do you yourself have a sense of rightful ownership? Do you suppose others might too?

Do to others what you would have them do to you. It is up to you, but the world is a great feedback mechanism, and how we treat it is reflected back to us.

My two pips.

If you post something on the net, that is IMPLIED PERMISSION.

What reason would you have for posting a formula if the INTENT was not to share it?

I ask people to not post my work elsewhere because if there is a bug or a modification they may not know where to find it. Example: The TRO_DYNAMIC_FIBS_TRAIL had a bug in it. How many people who downloaded it from FF would know that a bug and a fix exist?

If I post a formula, I would expect others to build tools using it. They wouldn't need to ask.
