Call for help

I recently purchased charting software to use along side Tradestation. However, I need to be able to connect to the data feeds in order to load intraday data into the new software.

Both can use something called Omega Server from Tradestation, but the current versions of TS do not have this Omega Server. Only TS 2000i does and that means I would have to purchase the additional software just for this one piece of software in the package.

Of course TS Support has been of NO SUPPORT. The only other solution is a Global variable that will transfer to Excel and then pull the data from Excel - this is not working either - data link is not reading from excel. It also means having a several different programs running at the same time which causes a drag on computer resources.

I'm not a good enough programmer to work on this - so any kind of help will be appreciated.

Apart from TS - the other software being used is Elwave V7.1 and Fibonacci Trader Version 4.

Getting data fed into TS

I assume you are using TS 8.2 or 8.3. As you already know you can subscribe to TS's data feed for a monthly fee that is $250 per month if you don't have an account with them, and $120 plus depending on what feds you get.

You can get TS2000i on ebay then get eld code and cut and paste it into els's for 2000i.

Lastly, I've read about a couple years ago, www.owndatat.com sells software to get many different feds into the 8.x series of TS.

Lastly, search the net see what else new maybe available.

Thanks for the prompt reply.

I do have an account with TS (which I'm currently reconsidering) and do pay for several feeds from the different markets.

However, I need to get realtime data from these feeds into the other software and can do it with either the Omega Server which TS no longer provides or supports and TS Support tells me there's no way to do this or Excel.

I've found an Excel solution were I can get the data from TS into Excel but I'm having problems recovering the data from Excel. The new charting software was purchased after-market so the vendor will not support.

At this point, short of spending more money on an older version of TS - I'm stuck.

Thank you again.

Patch -

Tried the link you suggested - there is a software available for either a onetime license or monthly fee. If nothing else works I may consider it.

Thanks.

I don't know what the best solution is for your situation. You emotional make up is the decisive factor. I just checked ebay and a copy of 2000i with global server has 2 days and some hours left for a current bid of $300.

http://cgi.ebay.com/TRADESTATION-2000i- ... dZViewItem

Is this a good deal for you? I don't know. Read the listing. The listing says it will take Interbank FX. I wonder if it will take EFX. At 300-600 this could be your smallest investment option. I bought my copy of 2000i 2 or 3 years ago for 9 or 1200. No monthly costs... still the best deal in town; along with a couple inconveniences. I've never looked back.

Hello Ladies,

I sent this image to my finance professor and now I'm sharing it with you. It's just a taste of the 4x=0's private club.

Thanks again - I'm checking out OwnData and will consider the TS 2000i if nothing else works. I just have a bit of aversion to anything dealing with Tradestation. But will take a deep breath - step back and re-examine my options. In the end, if I buy the software it's always mine even when I don't have to deal with the company anymore - that's worth thinking about.

Thank you again for your help.

Take several real deep breaths. We live in a broken, fallen and imperfect world. I think the world of TRO. A few months ago I got really angry with TS about how they have treated TRO and decided to cancel my subscription with TS.

A couple observations and lessons learned. Thanks to TRO there is a ton of indicators available at no cost here at Kreslik; price based as well as squigglies. This is a big reason to take some more breaths and decide slowly and wisely. You are free to express your concerns to TS, and at the same time, let TRO and he alone deal with TS. A negative is that some of TRO's radar and I wouldn't be surprised if some indicators will not run on 2000i. While TS has serious shortcomings, the trading platform still has a lot of very helpful trading features. Think about it, and you might ask TRO, with all that has happened, TRO continues to use TS as his primary trading platform I believe.

Lastly, I thank you, because because of your questions, and the research I did, I've decided to fire up my 2000i and follow one of the suggestions I passed onto you. I think that we can get the PMSL (poor man's slot machine working on 2000i).

What ever you decide, keep going and never, ever quit and you will make it. One last idea, if you haven't already, read the topic posted by soultrader: http://kreslik.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=7169#7169 et. al. I have to be honest, when I first read his first post, I thought this is this guy's first post here on kreslik, and I the first word that came to my mind was spam. In the mean time, jhtumblin made a post and asked several good questions.

Personnally I was very impressed with soultrader's response. Mature men and mature traders control their emotions, in trades and in life. I've learned more about myself through trading than any other endeavor I've ever been involved with.

Again - thanks.
Deep Breaths have been taken.
I will continue to use the platform but possibly get my datafeed from another source which will help solve most of my charting problems. I will probaly continue to trade, even if on a limited basis with TS. Spread my wealth (or lack thereof) so to speak.
If I limit my exposure to TS, that should also limit my aggravation with them.
In the meantime, until all this gets re-arranged, I've found another way to get the data into my charting program without too much trouble on part.

Thanks for the shoulder and the ear. It was a pleasure to have had both. Sorry it took a week to respond, but I've been out of town.

Thanks again
