Big Bar=Big candle

just search for the biggest candle on your chart and enter it on the Big Bar column. (if one big candle close against you there should be 1/3 of your Box left)
No matter where life takes you, you will always check the market and always want to continue being a part of it. It's like that first true love, it will always be there no matter what the distance, no matter whether they are alive or dead.

Hi kids,

Just a quick question on injecting profit into space...

My maths brain is really letting me down lately...

Please assist in the equation required to inject profit into space...

Because in the past we have been injecting space into space...

So basically I want to for instance inject the profit from an account which was for arguments sake $10 000 and is now $12 360

So I want to inject $2360 into 3% risk and see how much space that gives me technically...

I'm not too sure if this has already been covered but I've hit a wall on my own excel calculator that I'm creating to manage my account and space... (which I will gladly share once I have finished it)

Thankies!

3% of 10000 is 300 ... 3% of 12360 is 370 after you decide on your cushion size lets say is 45 pips, in the first scenario 300/45=6.6 $/pip which is 66 micro lots second scenario 370/45=8.2 equivalent of 82 microlots .. a micro lot is 1000 units . don't remember what broker/platform you trade with, but on Oanda when you open the order you can be even more exact customizing your trade size and it also tells you how much 1 pip is worth

Spa, thank you... I'm currently on Dukascopy and they have a pip calculator on their site...

However I'm still placing the figures in my calculator (I actually had your equation above placed in the calculator but it was spitting out rather strange data, which prompted me to pose this question...

I am looking for how much space is available at x% risk before my profit $2360 gets eaten up... I never thought to have a pin cushion already in mind as I was hoping for the equation to give me a pin cushion... But it seems I need to do the calc on the pip calculator and then put that into my equation to get an accurate space where my profit will become zero...

I donno... this is all very confusing... I'm sorry for being such a noob... my problem is when I put 5% risk in my calculator the space figure increases... when according to my logic it should decrease as you will reach your profit limit sooner at higher % risk...

Sheeesh... my head hurts... :?

HMMM...
'
I think Ive been doing this differently...

3% risk over 45 pips = $300/45pips (at 10k account)... .66 lots..
inject profit into space = $2660/45pips.... 5.91 lots

can you see that your space is still 45pips (?) but the lotsize has gone crazy :) now thats compounding!

I got lost in this thread, but I thought the idea was to use profits to increase the size of the S/L. Presumably for those that can no longer hedge.
Is price closing higher or lower than something? Simple yet powerful question. ..MO

I wouldn't worry about injecting profit until you are close to max leverage...
but you would reduce the size of your box and multiply that severed space by the pip value of the lot size related to that space.

EXAMPLE: you adjust from 12 s-lots to 20, are left with 140 pips, and take 50 pips off to increase you max position size.

200/pip * 50 = $10,000

Add the $10,000 to the pre trade account size and multiply it by LeverageUSD for your new max position size.

You still have 90p * $200 or a space worth $18,000

the $10,000 is now money used for margin.

Depends on my Battle Plan :) Im im going up to a bigger chart I want extra space, if im still a bit short I'll jam the profit into a smaller charts space and increase the lotsize.

It doesnt take a big run of winners for the numbers to get stupid.
