I'm pretty sure a lot of traders got burned by GU yesterday.

I whole heartedly disagree,
I knew exactly what was happening.
This s**t happens all the time late NY session........
Low volume and they push and push, excellent opportunities abound that time of day a couple times a week.

As I said, I told my son it was going down town.
I was just being a wise guy. to my accounts chagrin.

Making pips is EASY.

Keeping them is what successful traders do.

Work on my stops/ then work on holding for bigger profits.
Simple.

And es/pip,
No need to hold back......someone else watching may learn something. That's why I'm here and doing this.....to learn.

I went short during news on G/U. I Stopped out at -10.9 as I "thought" it was gonna rocket up to catch stops so I reversed. Bad decision. Added to position when started to break down............added 23 more times on way to Daily bottom. I was within 40 pips of being able to close the whole thing at +200 on the first "major" re-trace. Then it sank again.

Went to bed and got up 4.5hrs later and it had moved 1 pip.

I set an OCO order for tp and SL.

Went and played with the wife for a bit and came back to see
Stop was hit 15 min. after setting it.

I started dancing around the house and singing....

We make a lot of money and we sleep at night (day for me)

I'm still in the game........well over 60% of account left!!!!!

In my opinion the GU was not predictable...it was extremely predictable if you keep an eye on large charts.

I did not see this post before trading today but will spend the entire weekend thinking about 8 trades a day.

I have got to commit to an exit strategy if I ever want to be successful. Profit or Loss.
Good entries are cake.

Today for example......oh the pips that I let slip through my trigger finger by exiting to soon. Max drawdown on any trade was 10.x and a few went for 40 pips without a change in m5 closed candle color.

+35.x.....same o same o. >2% increase

You know, I'm kinda glad I didn't get the extra 40 pip retrace I was looking for so that I could close at +200ish.

That might have cemented a faulty logic in my brain for using the martingale method.

What did M.O. say?
If you can see loss, you can see profit.

I could have just as easily entered every pullback on the way to the bottom instead of every breakout "pause".

I would have had MORE than 3044 pips and once your up that many pips each pullback would have become more and more of a laugher.

Are you serious? PRO, PRO, PRO a solid 125 pips for the week and you chase a "pipe dream"

You know, I'm kinda glad I didn't get the extra 40 pip retrace I was looking for so that I could close at +200ish.

That might have cemented a faulty logic in my brain for using the martingale method.

If you can see loss, you can see profit.

I could have just as easily entered every pullback on the way to the bottom instead of every breakout "pause".

I would have had MORE than 3044 pips and once your up that many pips each pullback would have become more and more of a laugher.

Do YOU see the profit in our future?????

I know what you are saying, but if you take a glance back at what MO was saying:

***He said build up some profit then use that as your stoploss extension

***He didn't say risk more and more until ruin

125 pips a week would get you that extra to extent your stops and take a stab at larger runs.

This is the MM that I am going to try with TRO's Rat Trading.

It is based on MM by Joe Ross if you are wondering why the SL gets moved

Whether you risk 10, 50, or 100 pips the net result to your account is the same with the only difference being the time in front of the computer.

The 10, 50, and 100 pip stop all add up to -0.75, -1.5, & -2.25% based on position size not SL.

The three exits all add up to a gain of 60-120% of your SL

By exiting quickly in 3rds you reduce your risk.

Trade off the daily lows and see what happens...

Yes, I understand.

I actually have been trying to use that on a daily basis......after being in profit for the day I want to never touch the previous days profits.

That is the goal each day...... The profit made each day is continually offered back to the market to get bigger and bigger gains....

let's say I get my daily 20 pips at 40 cent pips and $400 account (2%gain @ $8 )
Now, I have 80 pips to play with at 10 cent pips to see if I can double my daily gains. If I were to lose 20 I could shut it down for day with 0 pips but a 1.5% account gain.
If I get an extra 40 pips I could shut it down for the day with 3% gain. (60 pips total)
See what I'm doing???

Last thur. was an aberration.
I got in a bad situation that I should not have been in, I'd been doing so well lately avg. over 300 a week for a month, I did not want to POST a losing day.
Things got out of hand. Once down 600 pips it became a matter of how much of my account am I willing to risk? Well, I decided $300 would be ok because I'd still have $400 in my account. Still in the game using the 40cent pips I'd worked my way up to. I could have closed at -$140ish when the market just died but decided to risk $300 on it retracing to 38% fib. I calculated the 25 pips per each click....calculated where my stop should be (20 pips below the most recent low) and let it ride............Tp was set at a level for a +200ish pip profit.

I accepted the risk and will move on.
