I think what Don really wants is to trade the tape:

48 - 49 - 50 - 51 - 56 - 54 - 56 - 57 - 63

& that's fine, but let's not pretend that it's possible to trade without considering past prices. . .

price is moving through time and you are plotting a path whether you like it or not; everything is still there when you close your eyes.

Of course, comparing price is needed. Price (1) and Price (0). 2 prices are enough. But the path is definitely not diagonal. It's only up and down. Imagine a Renko or P&F but it stays in place. Greens will wipe out reds and vice versa. Done in DOM format or just mentally.

I've always said price in reality is on a totem pole. It goes NOwhere but up and down which is why YOUR in/out is so powerful.
