Right, I've done the most basic trade management deal I can happily live with and that is to set a SL just above the 23.6 level of the micro fib I dropped onto the move.

This way, I will walk away with at the very least +16 and if I am about, I can hopefully be in a position to re-enter should price turn back again.

Normally, I would look to scalp away at any of these small retraces/bounces, just adding what I can get but can't be done today as I said.

Oh and we are sitting at +37 or thereabouts just now.

I've binned the limit order.

I am also deliberately not looking at any other charts so I am not tempted to go in on another trade. I have no doubt that there are others available out there today.

Cheers for now.

Update:

Added another +6 by managing the trade on the tick charts.

The H4 candle did indeed reject the fib level and once I saw that, I entered again. I then dropped, as I said, to the tick charts so I could drill down into the detail.

I was willing to do this as it meant I knew I could add in bits-and-pieces as the move waxed and waned and not be stuck watching the bigger moves and also take advantage of the news that's coming in in dribs and drabs.

I don't have the time to start posting the charts just now but will fill in all these blanks when I get the chance later in the day.

OK, back on board.

Picking up where I left off with the H4, this chart shows the sl set and price on the move.

GBPUSD H4 SL in place.

I was obviously very happy with the bag today given everything going on - but just for the record, here's how it lay after I checked back later...

Then when the move fizzles out. Note the level is around the level I actually closed at earlier.

Or not...as price again shows rejection and we could have re-entered again.

Then to bring things right up to date, here's the same chart as it stands now (23:06 UK time to be exact).

So all-in-all, if I had been able to work the charts properly, this would have been one heck of a day, with the original entry left to run, the retrace hedged, then the rebound worked via the tick chart (both up and down). Another entry on that rebound via the H4 chart and then a tight overnight stop left on place to protect all that lovely moolah.

Such is life - and I'm only jawin' here. There is no place for traders' remorse here. I am grateful for the bag I got and I move on.

So, anyway, I am sure I can hear you saying, ''So, err, what was all that stuff on the tick chart, Lem?''

I showed this today as it was the only way to make sense of the trade info from the move I posted on the H4. The scalping side I had planned to bring in later - and that's still what I am going to do.

You can get an idea of what's going on by simply looking at those charts but there's also some stuff there that isn't perhaps as straight forward as it seems.

So, if you will indulge me a while yet, I will continue to look for the H4 entries we have been working on (including any continuation off this GU one) and build on that for now.

I will then look to take us into the world at the extreme sharp end - and then I plan to flip it again and look at the very high time frame set-ups that we can work into this stable.

So there ya' go.

Off to a good start. Let's see what the next one brings.

Trade well all.
