"Focus on Process --

Not on Outcomes"

Set and forget orders would equal outcome seeking
MM/space managment would equal process focusing

So i believe alot in the whole failure thing.. u gotta make
the mistakes to gain the experience etc etc.. so lets say u "backtest" something.. did u really learn anything? Im not saying the idea your backtesting is bad.. just you might not be seeing the whole picture....

I believe the same kinda goes for live and demo trading.. you might not be as focused on the process due to low risk/emotions.

But if your in the pit.. with your big ass sword swinging at the other trades
yelling "Get back up off me man!" that must be where the experience is.. the failure.. the success.

Just a thought! :)

"Focus on Process --

Not on Outcomes"

Let's expand Prochargedmopar's example:

Ala' Chris Lori,
As He describes in his journey down a bobsled track at HIGH speeds. His focus was not on gold/women/money/fame, ect. Or even breaking track records. His life (and teammates) depended on him staying "FOCUSED ON THE TASK, AND NOT THE OUTCOME"!!!

Process

Listen to how he talks about each turn...:

"Corner 6 let it get high" ... "Parallel into 7" ... "Wait" ...

There is not outcomes in his thinking. It is all about the now moment details.

He's not thinking about his competitors times, how good that gold metal is going to feel, the women at the after party, etc.

Failure is the opportunity to begin again more intelligently.

Failure should actually be something we embrace, because failure, believe it or not, is the best teacher.

Trading success is not an all or nothing proposition. Your only choices are not to be a colossal failure or a colossal success. It doesn't work that way.

Real success is made up of smaller successes and achievements that build confidence and slowly get rid of that fear of the unknown. Which kind of means that you need to let yourself ride the wave, rather than looking only at the end goal. You're never done growing, so you might as well let yourself enjoy the journey, rather than looking at everything as a fight for you to win or lose.

The person who makes no mistakes does not usually make anything.

Traders capitalize on the emotions of others AFTER they CONTROL THEIR OWN.

Michael Jordan said it best:

"I've missed over 9000 shots.

I've lost over 300 games.

26 times I've been asked to take a game winning shot at the buzzer and missed.

I've failed over and over and over again.................

And that is why I succeed."

1. Right Thinking + Work = Small result.
2. Small Results + Work = Confidence.
3. Confidence + Work = Big Results.

Now its simple process asking yourselve, where do i fit into above picture?

Am i getting small results?
yes- then i just need to work some more to build my confidence.
No- then i need to make sure i am thinking right and keep working.

Am i getting small results but not building my confidence?
yes - just need to do more work, keep going.

Once you have confidence and small results just with some more work the Big result will follow.
