dchappy wrote:Hi Alias , a couple questions ,if you don't mind ....you have the atr on your charts, how important do you consider it for your entries & exits ?. Also , have you had any difficulty exiting large positions (20 + ) lots with 1 order . For me ,orders that large seem to cover in pieces ,(5 or less ) at a time .(Maybe it's my broker , or that I'm using market orders ? ) Thx

The atr isn't a big deal. Quick glance to make sure price has been moving enough.

All i can say is big orders take more slippage in relationship to market speed and volume. I've had big orders go all at once and others slip a bunch.

Just like casinos give you free drinks, all decent brokers will fix this for you. Call them and tell them you need more liquidity - if you're using it, they'll make sure it's available to you. They give you dollars/time - generally tenths or hundredths of seconds.

Thanks for the info. If I ever get ambitious and build up the mental ability to trade at a higher level I'll consider doing it.

I see my account balance go up, so I know what I am doing is working. Today I wanted to get a bit more detailed with my data. I decided to see what my PROFIT FACTOR is for September and my trade accuracy.

Adding all my gains and dividing them by all my losses I got a profit factor of 3.63
Counting all my wins and dividing them by all my trades, my win percentage is 75.5%
Taking my balance on September 20th and subtracting it from the balance on September 1st I gained 33.18%
Taking my biggest period of loss and dividing that by the balance I have my biggest drawdown of the period of 7.2%
I took the total $$ of my winning trades divided by the number of them and divided it by the $$ of the losing trades divided by the number of them. I got a ratio of 1.16
basically a ratio of my average wins divided by my average losses.

As you can see my numbers work and are at a "Professional" level in my opinion, but I am sure there are several of you out there that are doing better.

I share this because I know some of you want to see what is possible and have something to compare your stats to.

Your numbers are excellent aliass. Have you calculated avg. win and avg. loss by any chance?

I did do that now. The ratio is 1.16 so my wins are slightly bigger than my losses on average.

Update 9-21-2016

Profit factor 4.59
Win percentage 75.0%
Gain 45.2%
Biggest drawdown 7.2%
Avg. wins$$/ Avg. loss $$ 1.53

That's how about 200 pips in a day can change the numbers. Market moved a bunch recently.
