Thanks Edward! I read every word. You are very kind to open members eyes to the challenges of trading. It's an excellent public service. And I agree with everything you say. In essence, you advise against analysis paralysis by saying TRADE YOUR SYSTEM. That's good advice. After re-reading your post ...

Ideas on automated Market Conditions
Edward, Michal, TRO and any other experienced traders... Several posts in this thread refer to the importance of "market conditions" and I agree. So far the only 1 that I found effective is tick volume with daily draw down limits somewhat helpful. There's a new thread to discuss daily filt...

Thanks jhtumblin. But I wasn't clear. I wasn't refering to immediately buying and selling the bid/ask like you describe. Instead, I was referring to intraday trading break out with limit orders. But should I set the limit order at the ask or bid when going long? Or vice versa on short? Well, I have ...

Yes. I love this forum for several items I learned here that weren't so clear anywhere else. 1. Avoid harming squiggly lines. :D a.k.a. study price action rather than lagging indicators. (Thanks TRO) 2. Focus on probability and statistics. 3. Analysis of the ideal times to trade Forex. (thanks Micha...

Sell the Ask / Buy the Bid. Does this Work?
I have an automated strategy that I'm building. Can I sell limit at the ask and buy limit at the bid successfully? Any opinions? Or should I sell at the bid and buy at the ask? It seems I can gain a pip by playing against the spread most of the time but what is the probability I won't get filled at ...

Edward, I greatly appreciate your advice and accept it. I see from many of your posts that you truly know how to trade. So I will use monte carlo runs to decide risk level to never risk a 25% drawdown. But you're right I do suffer from small accountitis! To compensate for that, I'm using 10 mi...

You guys are right. I've been running statistical probabilities using 10 minute bars. I made a chart in excel of the market going 1, 2, to 10 pips higher or lower before the end of the bar when entering at a certain prices levels like the previous bars high, low, or middle. Amazingly, they all have ...
