Look at that you put some solid numbers up and you are done in a couple hours. It may not be like that every day you might need to put in an 8 hour day once in awhile.

I don't actually know how many pips I made today. I snowballed my profits into a 20% gain on the ES. I'm liking the ES
Looks like you and crude fit together like peanut butter and jelly. Nice job with 200 ticks now you should go to the Caymans 8)

In these markets and your talent you shouldn't need/have to trade for 12 hours a day.

i can retire now lol
thanks Alias!

In crude you can put decent size on and with 60 ticks make good money without beating yourself up.
Its just relative to what an individuals goals are and how that market accommodates those goals.

60 ticks Crude is equal to 48 ticks ES/DAX is equal to 120 ticks NQ/YM.
If you are a 10 contract trader you can trade any of those markets
If you are a 100 contract trader your options decrease depending on your style

I'm fairly certain one of the reasons you get into trading isn't because you want to work more than a 9 to 5 job.

that is true
20 contracts is my upper limit ---- i trade much smaller on the daily basis tho
i really dont have to go above that to reach my long term goals
so the liquidity is not an issue 99% of the time for me

the thing is/ was
that it took SO MUCH for me to get consistent
that ever since i got the "edge" i go really hard
and it served me well so far

while i was working at one of the prop trading firms ive seen the guy who was clipping 200 lots
meaning ---- his one click was 200 ---- most of the time he was trading 400
he was killing it for almost 2 years
then he started showing up late to the office
ending the days early
and the next thing you know the dude couldnt stop losing money
i mean it was certainly some kind of psychological issue aswell (not only a technical one)
but it made me really respect the markets ---- hence i dont like the "phone trading"

i just feel ultra lucky to be able to do this
we all know dozens of soldiers lost in the battle
but i need to reevaluate stuff for sure
and as i already said
i like to see you guys killing it here because it gives me a good perspective

Hey man, I like this post. In blue: How long did it take you to become consistent? What were some of your biggest hurdles? Thanks.

hey boys!
i was travelling over the weekend so i wasnt replying

i got this now

Image

this is 200 and 7 ticks
very handsome looking ladder

i just closed it
i dont remember if i called it live

during my prop days i was also an energy trader
energy, gas, oil, co2 emission allowances (also sp500 since the biggest companies in the world are "energy" companies)
also NQ since its correlated with sp500 ---- we were looking for correlation everywhere just to get our hands on as many markets as possible lol

even tho i normally dont trade such big "time frames"
there are some fundamentals behind that sell off
this is my 3rd big trade since they started @ ~66 bucks
and i have to say
im enjoying myself so far

hey Leo!
thank you
sorry i didnt see your question earlier!

well i dont remember exactly how long
but long enough for a sane person to quit long before it happened
i would say that somewhere between 8 and 9 years
i mean i had some good periods before i got consistent
although it was mainly market cooperating and me being lucky
and then when i finally got it i never looked back

the question about the issues is a tough one
because i had so many
also i think all the issues go away almost immediately when you finally puzzle it all together
brain adapts repidly when it gets positive reinforcement
so its hard to tell now which was the biggest one

unfortunately i dont have the time to reply now
i need to think about it
so i just wanted to touch on that now
but basically for me it all boils down to the QUALITY screentime
not bullshting around and doing the same comfortable sht over and over again
actively trading and working on your edge

i need to leave the house now but ill try elaborate on that later today
i dont know if i can say anything new tho

im back!

to just finish the thought
i think my biggest issue was that im a natural scalper
but the market pays for sitting ---- not clicking
so under certain market conditions i was doing great
and then i had those nasty days that wiped out most of my profits

so from the practical view point i struggled with two things:
- not willing to adapt my play style
- viewing everydays PA as the same (even tho its not)

solving one of those two would kinda set me up
because you can develop the tools
or just trade when you got the edge

i dont want to go into details
dont want to bore your pants off
but if you want me to go just let me know
i can elaborate on stuff

but i worked on both (more or less consciously)
and now i feel like most of the time i know whats going on
and i know how to get the job done
i.e. get the fkn BAGS lol

sold oil again while typing that
went faster then i thought
