Newschool!

You made 400 pips while only losing 40 pips with an automated DTB on level 3 semaphors in a week!?

Holy S! I gotta start getting serious.

I look forward to seeing your code.

Thanks!!

I can't find the thread it was posted on, if you got it I could check what he did.

forexbob wrote:*edit: did some backtests and in this i have some trades, but overal not profitable. so my demo testing was probably over a 2 short period.
when time will look further in settings if this can be turned into at least a little profitable. (and in the mean time, just trade manual ...)

The backtesting is very slow , I think it is because of the custom indicators. For me it was positive but not much, like I said I'm having issues with the i-regr center line. And with a H4 timeframe, the gap can be very wide.... Post a screenshot (in PNG format) of the tested chart here.

And btw I only test on E/U for the moment.

at120, good idea, instead of using a custom indicator. What is the spread on E/U you consider too high to trade?

hi newschool!

Spread, depends on broker of course, but if normal spread is about 0,5-1
pips, (EURUSD) for this I would not set the spread higher than 2. But this is
something we have to figure out, during news events easily... :-)

Have you forward tested it also? (As you know backtesting for an EA should
be done with good tickdatas! nevertheless there is no spread and no costs in
this MT4-BT!)

Time for testing... :-)

Thanks and bye, AT

newschool, I'm interested in your EA more as a learning exercise than as something to trade with, for now, but would love to see the code. I am indeed a coder, software development is my vocation. So if you'd like to share with a developer, I'm available for the picking.

There is a zip attached where the sema3beta is in it.
I also had to read the topic twice to see it :-)

Live demo. Took 2 false entries... but perhaps with a different s/l and a higher gap between trades... because the second entry was quite close!
Still it is going to be positive (I guess).

Image

EDIT ================
With a stop/loss of 15 pips (instead of the tight 10), the second entry is OK in the above chart. Because of this I am using a 25 pips gap between 2 trades. This is to limit multiple false entries close to each other. There is a second setting that can bypass it, when the last entry is at least 2 hours away.

It is located in this line MathAbs(lasttrade - Bid) > 0.0020).

Or download the updated version with external inputs. This is my personnal fourth version hence the name.
