Are the value areas simply pivots? S1 and R1? Or which pairing?
I thought it had something to do with analyzing the number of trades to actually quantify the 70% action area where 70% of trades took place during the 24 hour period.
Also, I've got a picture. I would like to show up on each of my posts, as yours (you look like a sailor in your yellow windbreaker). Help me. Where and how?

Jeff, S/R is the ticket... and speaking of sailing, looks like EURCHF sailed right back through the Value Area (with a littele less momentum... guess the tide is going out and the waves are not breaking as hard
At the top of the page you should see a link labeled "Profile" - click on that and go to the bottom of the page where you have a section called "Avatar Control"...

The BuyZone indicator is statistically calculated. Following it is very profitable - just ask AirBall.
It works because it is SIMPLE. If you can tell red from green, then you can make money trading using the BuyZone. To me, adding other stuff, like SQUIGGLY LINES just adds CONFUSION.
That being said, it is up to each trader to find a method that works for them.
There is no right/wrong, only profit/loss... it is that SIMPLE.

IT'S NOT WHAT YOU TRADE, IT'S HOW YOU TRADE IT!

Value Area
Patch
This is my first post on this forum... I usually prefer to just read but I thought I might be able to contribute on this topic. The value areas Rugo was talking about are concepts from a market tool called Market Profile. It isn't really a system but more of a tool used to read the market. There are a number of ways to calculate value areas (by volume or tpo's). A good resource to learn more is a book called "Mind Over Markets" by Dalton. I also have other info if you're interested.... oh yeah.... there are also a few threads on Elitetrader.com about Market Profile (the best are by two posters "They" and "Bolter". If you want more info just message me. Hope that helped.
