Enjoying your success with the EUR/TRY trade this morning. And I know it is quite a success.

However, I am wondering about the spread which on Oanda, my broker, is pretty steep (~ 30) whether figured as a % of price or the ATR (D1).

If the EUR/TRY moves like today, well, who cares? My question is how much consideration do you allow for spread on your entry decisions? If we were looking at a 1440 chart, it really doesn't matter, but at M15 . . . it probably does.

Thoughts? . . . especially with the EURTRY or something like the EURSEK. I have always stayed away from these on lower tfs, maybe I need a rethink.

Thanks, Columba

I would not trade a chart where the spread is greater than 2/3 of a line.

A spread of 50% or less is ideal.

Hi Pro, good to see you back looking at charts.
I drew the best I could..im on my tablet.
All you need is a bit more patience. Im not sure if you use my zones...but the cross of the trendlines which you have drawn correctly, needs to be crossed by the ma. or If you do use my zones, a failed retest, then the break of your trendline will almost get you in on the right side of the zone every time, thus eliminating the reversal trades.

Just jumped the gun...thats all

No i don't use doji zones.
Last I knew you were trading ABCD patterns and swore once you go black, errrr stack, You'll never go back.

Anyway. MACD3 traders use to wait for the H1 6ema to cross a S/R before they would consider it a breakout.
They would then enter on smaller tf pullbacks targeting higher timeframe S/R.

So your saying we do the same with the 2sma/trendline, and AO cross?

Hmmmmmm
I could use it as a filter for my ZL/MZ trades.

Like this?

MA (price closes beyond strongly) breaks a TL,
AO still up.
Price pulls back to a ZL.
Bingo is struck.

In the pic above, yes, like that. BUT, it would be an continuation for me, not an entry. All most all of my trades are based on reversals.
When I take my pip pillage, im done with that move. Over time this will also help with holding trades that are winners. I just want to point out
for the last 7 hours in the pic..if you were long, that there were no down Crosses, down doji zones, down momentum, down 123 setups, down abcd's.

For many, once in a trade, thats when anxiety sets in... just take a deep breath and trade what you see. It doesnt lie.
