Phil,

In your opinion how do your range bars relate to minute bars. i.e. a 10 range bar is close to a what minute bar, in your experience. Have you figured out the advantages/disadvantages of the range bars? Could you give us your thoughts? Thank you,

Hi T-man,
I think it depends on the currency you´re watching, I mostly watch the EURUSD. So when I think about the forming of a 10 range bar, I think most of the time it could be compared to 5 till 15 minutes. But that´s just my experience and based upon the screen time i´ve had. Sometimes it could take more than 30 minutes before a bar to form!
What I like most about the Range bars is, like Chappy said, that I think the chart is more readable for me (I talk like I?m an expert! Not yet!). I think I can avoid more whipsaws by using the range bar script cause the time-element is taken away from the chart. I think it´s really a personal preference. Like being said in this thread, there are people who don´t use the range bar and also have good success.
The disadvantages I can think of are a) you need to focus on how much of the range is left before the current range is filled (that´s why I coded the x remaining range in the comment section of the indie) and b) I´m a bit annoyed with the indicated time of when the range bar was formed, the time is not correctly set in the script and I need to fix it one time (that means I need to build my own range bar)

I hope this helps.
Perhaps anyone else has any input on this?

Phil

What indicator do you use for range bars?

Thanks
JUAN

Hi Juan,

I use a free rangebar script which i posted here on this page

it´s inside the component.zip
Let me know whether this helps, or if you have any other questions.

Regards, Phil

Thanks Phil

Entry...

Enabled the AutoStop bot from Flinux, set it to breakeven at 9 pips. Let´s see how it goes.

Anybody has any experience in entering continuation trend trades like Chappy mentioned earlier in this thread?

Enjoy your day.

Entered a bit late, price went down on me but reversed back into the direction of the trend...

Currently working on my own RangeBar script. I just want to dive into it so i can understand what´s going on and work on price.
The thing what is bothering me about the ´standard´ rangescript is the timescale in case i want to reread the chart and compare it with a normal tf chart.

Will post it when it´s stable.

Enjoy your day.
