Chappy, do you find any benefit in using "range bars" as opposed to "time bars", ie is it working just as well for you on mt4?
Is price closing higher or lower than something? Simple yet powerful question. ..MO

Hey Humble ,

To my eye the range bars smoooth out the price movement .

This gets rid of the spikes and slow congestion areas . I think this gives a somewhat cleaner signal for entries ( If your signal is derived from some type of indicator cross )

However it is a subtle difference and maybe not that important .

The biggest disadvantage is that you must watch the range counter , because you never know when a range bar will close .

It's really just a preference that I've gotten used to, tf's work just as well ,, use whatever is most comfortable for you ..

Thanks for asking ........Chappy

If I were using indicators to signal a trade then I would use range bar charts because they give cleaner signals.

[s]Alas[/s], I use both time & price...

range bars is very beneficial. This are particularly good at focusing on and clarifying movement.

Thanks for the replies. I'm just looking at what Chappy is doing on this thread only I don't have access to range bars.

Please excuse the mt4 chart on a ninja thread.

Ha ha..It's OK Humble ..no descrimination against mt4 charts.

As you have seen time-frames work well with the semafor .

I've been using this macd as a trigger for a few months now..seems to work well .

It also shows divergence, with the price , very well.

Trade Well.......Chappy

You might be interested in this MT4 MACD Indi; also found a OHLC Heikin Ashi indi; I like it because you can look at the candle and tell exactly where price is. Enjoy,
