Microsoft uses C#.NET internally for developing the .NET platform. That alone speaks volumes.

Michal,

Where would you suggest to start of #C for a right brain kind of guy. Please give me a 123 steps.

Jimmy,

it's easy -
  • step 1: download and install Microsoft Visual C# 2005 Express (from the link above)
  • step 2: print out the "Build a program now - Visual C#.NET 2005" book from Microsoft Press (ditto)
  • step 3: read the book and do all the exercises in it
When you're done, I'll provide you with subsequent steps. :)

Michael,

What one book or whatever would you recommend for a new programer in C# that would build confidence and not overwhelm me

Have you downloaded the "Build a program now - Visual C#.NET 2005" book from Microsoft Press?

Download 2008 version of C# book?

Postby spinner » Tue May 13, 2008 9:53 pm

The new version of the recommended book [Build a Program Now -- Visual C# 2008 Express Edition] has been released. Does anyone know where to download the new book for free, or when it is new is it for purchase only?

The 2008 software download I know how to find -- it is at:
http://www.microsoft.com/express/download/

I just can't find the book, except at:
http://www.microsoft.com/MSPress/books/12281.aspx
where the price is about $13.
I don't mind paying for it, but don't want to if it is free somewhere else.
