I took the same trade for 3 pips. I've been curious about this dead zone idea.

Nice & welcome aboard!

What made you curious about it?

I was interested because it is almost a scheduled trade

Two no-nonsense short entries (short at bottom of upper WZ and short @ bottom of DZ) before news 7:30 hit and knocked price back up into the DZ.

edit: and minutes later comes round 2 with the same short setups there for the taking all over again. Gotta love the DZ :smt055

Same here. I don't have all day to sit around and watch for WZ trades on the 4 hour or daily candles (although it'd be cool if I did!).

Wednesday AM. 4 trades/3 wins. Loss on 1st breakout long. The subsequent break-in, lower WZ reversal, and breakout north (add-on) all proved good.

Long from lower WZ, missed the chance for another entry at the breakout.

Popped off a quick break in from the lower WZ, then took a breakout south out of the DZ.

Howdy & welcome!

Apologies for the tardiness of my reply. I’d checkout Wannalearn’s thread ‘Journey of the ES’ (https://www.kreslik.com/forums/therumpledone/journey-of-the-es-wannalearn12-t15954) and Billy TT’s thread ‘Happy Trading’ on Forex Factory (https://www.forexfactory.com/showthread.php?t=524601) (Is it kosher to mention FF here? If no someone should let me know).

Billy’s thread is really really reeeeeally long (it’s now over 2000 pages, did I mention it’s really long?), I would say just search it for mentions of “deadzone” and “dz” (Although I’m working my way through the whole thing, and it’s very cool to see how ideas develop over the thread’s course. The deadzone is just one of many tools presented in this thread).

The basic idea is to take the bar that forms in the hour before US markets open (6-7 am CST) and trade it WickZone style (the triggers being breakouts from the high and low and breakins from the open and close, i.e. back into the body of the candle.). If you’re so inclined, you can extend this zone and trade these levels through the rest of the day. If you give this a go, you might want to consider using something to help establish a bias. LeM provided some examples of the way he establishes a bias earlier in the thread, and this is something that’s discussed a bit in Wannalearn’s thread as well. I’m still playing around and trying to figure out what works best for me.

Feel free to swing by whenever!
