Yeah I found the 3 blind mice thread which looks straight forward so far in the first few pages, the wick dolls got my eye, will see if that is worth noting down in my notebook.

So at XMAS time with wobbling fresh in my mind I spent some time at XMAS time coding up in MT4 an EA that allows me close a few profitable orders against the partial volume of the biggest loser quite quickly. Seems to work OK but the human part of the equation needs some work as my risk side of things gets out of hand when doing averaging (too much fun) so until I can control or figure this part out this method will be on the lower shelf for now.

Ya wobbling is fun. I think the biggest hurdle with it is what you are having issues with, downside!

Yes indeed, I have seen it work for some people so it's one I will keep hammering away at in the background, but with tiny /partial volume risk.
So do you have any hot topics you are learning this year or will you just keep doing the stuff that works for you ?

I just posted my newish project in my thread.

3xcc is an overlay of an artificial higher timeframe or real one. This way you can have a higher and lower on the same chart.

I think MO made a bunch of money but at the time I dont think he was a millionaire.
ES/pips might have been a millionaire but more from his real estate holding.
I think Dchappy was retired and making extra money to spend on his grandkids. One week he made about $90k and we never saw him again.

In this business many people are happy to have a nice paying stay at home job. They aren't worried about millions.

This. Yes.

This. Yes.

Reminds me of my old boss, he made a few hundred thousand trading, and was afraid to lose it on the markets afterwards so moved onto other stuff. He said the drawdown almost cleaned him out (I think he borrowed against the house) but the trade went the other way at the last minute so he didn't have to tell his wife they almost lost the house.
To work from home and be your own boss would be cool plus give you more freedom which is the most important thing, but, after Covid a lot more are working from home now anyhow, plus with calls to your colleagues, might be less lonely than trading as a job.
Having said that, there are a lot more web/discord community's popping up that have more accessible voice chat, but it's finding the right one.

Make no mistake. If you use bigger than M30 as your trigger then yes, it's freedom. But when you use M1 then it's a delayed freedom. Small tf requires constant monitoring and quick analysis (and decision-making) only after you exit the trade can you have your freedom. Some people come to forex because the marketers' sell it as having a lot of freedom and then they discovered a way to make money faster by using a smaller time frame and then they fail and then curse the whole industry.

The people that sell the dream do a good job as everyone wants the dream. It's like the old gold mining days, the smart ones were selling the pots and pans and food to the prospectors. Sounds like a similar business model in Forex :)

There is more to it than that. There is the reading, video game playing, movie watching, and talking about trading that needs to get done.

Sometimes the talking about trading makes me miss trades. I get wrapped up chatting in discord or making a post.

Sounds like you need to go back to the 5min chart since your socialising is making you miss trades on the 1m chart

I'm thinking of adding some swing back in my life. H1 or H4. Sometimes it seems like more work.
